Shanghai

We arrived yesterday and got right to it. First stop, the bund. This is an old colonial riverfront with two faces: a crazy impressive lineup of old buildings from the 20s during shanghai's hay day, and a futuristic spattering of rocket ship buildings and giant screens. I'm not sure which side I prefer actually!

The building with the two balls is the "pearl of the orient."

Like Beijing, Shanghai is tragically polluted. But this sometimes adds to the mystique, especially in the morning.
