A cat! of course!
On our first trip to the animal shelter we met Mopsy, a tiny black kitty that was feisty enough to entertain, but soft enough to warm up to us. At least that's what it seemed would happen. Look at her! She was so tiny and cute! Even Jordan was smitten.
SO, we put our name down on the adoption list and left her with the intent of asking our landlord for permission to have a cat. Given our interaction with our landlord to this point, we were confident the request would disappear in e-space and someone else would scoop up our kitty. Low and behold, the landlord and our agent came through and we had our permission! After a rushed trip to Pet Lover's Center we had all the basics and were ready to bring her home. The caveat was that if Jordan was allergic, we might have had to bring her back. He can either react violently to cats, or not at all, so we were hoping for the latter.
We decided to make the bomb shelter her domain. Kitty litter and all. She knew it right away and quickly hid under the shelves. At first she was kinda scared of her new home. We had to entice her out with food and toys.
It eventually worked and she came out. She was such a little kitten when we got her.
She was immediately playful and we could tell what her favorite toy would be. She loves the butterfly wands.
Look at her leap for it!
We were also fortunate to get a cat that actually likes to use the scratching post!
She also likes to watch youtube videos. Especially when other cats are involved. She's such a weirdo.
I already feel myself becoming one of "those people." You know, a CAT person. I can't help it if I find her adorable! Evidence:
It did not take long for her to make herself comfortable, and to declare what is her's. The blue chair, for example, belongs to her now.
Jordan also belongs to her.
As do I
Sometimes she "helps me work."
She may be cute, but let's face it. She ain't too bright. Or maybe it's just a cat thing.
And sometimes she puts herself in a box. in a corner. She puts herself in the corner.
When we realized she liked putting herself in boxes, we bought her a special one. The hope was that the new scratching post/box would also distract her from our sofa and our oriental rug that she was slowly dismantling. I'm starting to rethink not removing her claws...
Turns out she likes her new post. She boxes herself...
...perches herself...
...and also scratches.
Welcome to the family, Ella!

I love the name Ella Annalise (hope I spelled it right!) She is adorable. Don't declaw her
ReplyDeleteI'm going to need to make sure Zel and Dani see this post. They will be so proud of you for joining the cat-owner crowd. They're up to three of them by now. So glad you, Von, have a day time companion and that Jordan seems to be more than tolerating her. --aunt jane
